Shambler

Here are a couple of potential Shambler concept speed paints, each one is done in value (will look at colour this week) once again keeping the time down and making big brush strokes to keep the designs loose. The first one is more in keeping with the thumbs that i have done already whilst the second one is more of a variation on the concept of what the Shambler is, I do like the more noble look of the second one but I also like the more fleshy relentlessness of the first. Maybe by taking areas from both and developing them into a new concept I could be heading towards the final design.

I must also note that I do prefer doing concept design this way over the more traditional pencil and paper, whilst I do use fine line pen and pad for rough sketching I fins there is more freedom in pre-production design by literally painting straight into PS with custom brushes. I have also found that spending my time learning how to develop images in value has really improved my work considerably both in freedom of expression but also time. By doing value I concentrate on form and lighting allowing for a more interesting design to the reader.
